2011 Spring Conference Update (4-18-2011)

Time is drawing near and things are shaping up quite nicely for your Area 74 Spring Conference hosted by District 22 in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

Of importance and immediacy:  In order to be assured of your Saturday evening banquet reservation we must receive your registration no later than Friday May 6th.

Secondly, if you have not reserved your overnight accommodations then you are urged to do so as soon as possible.  As of today there are 24 rooms available at the conference center at a rate of $99 per night.  The Holiday Music Motel across the street from the conference center has 8 rooms available and there is a smattering of vacant rooms at other local hotels/motels.  If you are booking at Stone Harbor or The Holiday Music Motel be sure to mention the conference in order to receive the discounted rate.

Please review the rest of this site for previously submitted information and the conference agenda has just been finalized and is also included as a link.  Note the agenda includes a Friday night general discussion on our Area 74 Structures and Guidelines and with the upcoming changes in how/where we do our “business” this will be good opportunity to offer your thoughts.  God knows the Spring 2012 conference planning folks will be “all ears” as they prepare to implement the new format.

We look forward to seeing you in Sturgeon Bay!!!

2011 Spring Conference Update (2-25-2011)

After many months of preparation the Area 74 - 2011 Spring Conference Planning Committee is pleased to provide you with this update.  For the first time District 22 (Door and Kewaunee County) will host an Area 74 conference and we thank you for this service opportunity.  “Answer The Door To Service” is the conference theme and will be held May 13 - 15 at the Stone Harbor Resort & Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

Consistent with the conference theme the program’s agenda will be service oriented and our current Area 74 Delegate, Steve H., will provide the Delegate’s Report, a synopsis of this year’s General Service Conference, on Saturday morning.  Saturday night’s banquet speaker is Bob D. from Las Vegas, Nevada and a visual presentation of our “Big Book” by Lee C. from San Diego, California is scheduled for Sunday morning.  Saturday night’s entertainment will take a little different twist and will hopefully encourage some hip-shaking and fellowship no matter your age or twisting ability.

For more than a year our committee’s verbal updates at Area 74 events have included and stressed the matter of hotel accommodation availability and many of you have already booked your rooms.  Good job!!!  As of January 19 nearly one-half of the 100 blocked (until April 13) rooms at Stone Harbor have been booked.  In addition, a handful of rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Motel which is directly adjacent to the conference center.  For those of you who have not secured your room we encourage you to do so now as it is apparent that all hotel rooms in Sturgeon Bay may be filled this weekend.  A recent inquiry indicates rooms at various hotels are still available but are filling up.

While hotel reservations have been surprisingly many, the number of conference and banquet reservations thus far received has been relatively few.  In order for us to adequately plan for the program(s) and banquet we ask you to now take the time to submit your registrations.  Our banquet coordinator and planning committee thanks you in advance!!!

For more information and a conference registration form please CLICK HERE.  Please note that the current registration form includes a Saturday lunch option.  The lunch is being organized by one of our AA Groups and will be offered at a local church approximately one-quarter mile from the conference center.  For those of you who have already submitted a registration and want to sign-up for the lunch you may contact us at the cell phone number(s) provided on the registration form or via email at cpc@area74.org.  A lunch sign-up will also be available at the registration table.

Thank you once again.  We look forward to seeing you at the conference.
